Dr. Mo and the Mental Game of Golf
This is the initial post on our golf blog. It’s essential for you to understand how it got started. In my years as a senior competitive golfer playing in the tough Carolina PGA circuit I met a sports psychologist (Dr. Morris Pickens) who was just getting started. He studied under Dr. Bob Rotella at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Mo and I worked long hours together practicing, working on my game and playing golf. This foundation produced the knowledge and information for the creation of the initial manuscripts documenting the mental secrets for playing great golf on a consistent basis. Additional knowledge was added based on Mo’s work on the PGA tour with a number of top players.
Dr. Mo, or just Mo, now has a solid client base of PGA tour players who have accounted for 30 professional wins and three major titles. His students have accounted for over 200 amateur wins and he has worked with collegiate coaches including winners of the NCAA championship. The first book, Learn To Win, One Shot at a Time explains the secrets and process of developing a golf routine. The second book, Learn to Win – A Major provides the details of how his players won the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the British Open. These two books gives you the inside scoop on what it takes to win and how it’s done on the PGA tour.
Dr. Mo and I are not stopping with these two books. We are working on a book dealing with practice and preparation including unique the practice drills, developing a game plan and the secrets of course management. In addition the process of what we call the Learn to Win System will evolve into a complete useable format to enable competitive collegiate, junior, and professional golfers to take their games to new levels.
This blog will become a forum which will provide insight on the mental game of golf and tips on playing better golf and shooting lower scores. In addition to these posts you can access Dr. Mo’s newsletters and tour news at www.drmolearntowin.com.
